About Alunite Supergroup
Formula:
AD3(XO4)2(OH)6
A = Na, K, Pb, Rb, NH4, Ag, H3O or H2O.
D = Al, Fe3+, V3+ or Ga3+; minor Cu, Zn, Ge and others.
The XO4 (X = S, As, P, minor Si, Se, Mo, W) group may be partly protonated.
D = Al, Fe3+, V3+ or Ga3+; minor Cu, Zn, Ge and others.
The XO4 (X = S, As, P, minor Si, Se, Mo, W) group may be partly protonated.
Also known as Alunite Family or Alunite Group.
This supergroup includes: Alunite Group, Beudantite Group, Plumbogummite Group and Dussertite Group. Various other names have been used for these groups (see Mills et al. 2009; Bayliss et al. 2010).
Crystals in the group are generally small, imperfect, and rare. Habit is usually either tabular {0001} or pseudo-cubic (cube-like rhombohedron) to pseudo-cuboctahedral, or acute-rhombohedral. Acicular habits are extremely rare.
This supergroup includes: Alunite Group, Beudantite Group, Plumbogummite Group and Dussertite Group. Various other names have been used for these groups (see Mills et al. 2009; Bayliss et al. 2010).
