Чагино, Москва, Россия

A former village on the left bank of the Moskva River, to the north of the former village of Kapotnya; both became a part of Moscow in 1960. At present, the territory of the former Chagino village is included in the "Chagino-Kapotnya" industrial zone, at the northern edge of Kapotnya district (raion), Southern Administrative Okrug of the federal city of Moscow.

Jurassic rocks crop out on the bank of the Moskva River. There were three mine adits of the Tsaritsynskiy phosphorite mine in this area, due to the presence of three-four horizons of phosphorite accumulations of arenaceous, argillaceous, and marlaceous types.

An occurrence of oil shale (stratum 0.2–0.4 m thick), consisting of black bituminous claystone, is known. Pyrite in the form of nodular accumulations, varying in shape and size (reaching 10–15 cm in size and 0.5–1.0 kg in weight), was found along the towpath. Gypsum, alongside with jarosite and limonite, is formed in cases of long-lasting exposures of the pyrite-bearing rocks. Calcite is found in the form of fine-grained travertine aggregates and needle-like formations of belemnite rostra.
