Rinderschächte ("Grube Frohe Zukunft"), Straßberg, Harzgeröder Bergbaurevier, Harz, Sachsen-Anhalt, Deutschland

Ancient lead-silver mine on the Neudorf-Straßberg vein system ('Neudorf-Straßberger Gangzug'). The correct name of the locality is 'Rinderschächte', but it is often erroneously referred to as the "Frohe Zukunft Mine". The latter, however, is situated more than 1 km further west. The minerals that occurred here were rich in arsenic, whereas the Frohe Zukunft Mine predominantly worked antimony-rich ores.

The mine fascinates by the amazing diversity of pyromorphite/mimetite crystals. Nearly all shapes and colours, that are known from this mineral group, can be observed at this one place!
Furthermore is this the only location for stolzite at the whole Harz Mts. and a location for some uncommon minerals like beudantite and carminite.

Located 1 km west of Straßberg and about 8 km SW of Harzgerode.
