An active quarry. Minerals are either included in xenoliths or occur as late-stage phases in thin fissures of pneumatolytic origin (zeolites and carbonates). The quarry is famous for a number of rare barium minerals and skeletal perovskite.

Owned by the “Dieter Stolz Lavagruben” company.

NOTE: Entry is only allowed on Saturdays after 1 pm and on Sundays (situation March 2018, https://www.mineralienatlas.de/forum/index.php/topic,46533.msg322645.html#msg322645) (“members only” access).

Paragenesis is similar to that of the Löhley (Liley).

Description: Blaß & Kruijen (2015): "A partially embedded crystal whose Raman spectrum clearly resembles that of analcime. Also, the few visible crystal planes could indicate analcime. However, a definitive identification is still pending." In a new find from 2020 Analcime shows as white inclusions in cavities in the rock. It is an early grown zeolite later overgrown with Phillipsite-Ca. The Raman-spectrum has good quality and clearly shows Analcime.

Description: Barytolamprophyllite (from the Eifel localities) was originally mentioned by Hentschel. He used this name to describe Ba-rich members of the Lamprophyllite-group. These minerals were investigated in more detail during the last years and turned out to be new Ba-rich species of the Lamprophyllite-group. (Schüllerite, Lileyite and the Fe-Analogon of Lileyite) In the recent investigations Barytolamprophyllite sensu stricto was not detectable.
