Andesite-basalt cone in the Medvezhia caldera (diameter 10 km), with acid dacites highly altered by very high temperature (600° to 940° C) fumaroles.

Note: This island has been occupied by Russia since 1945 but is still officially claimed as part of Japan by the Japanese.
