A former underground Ag-Pb-Au-Cu mine located in the center S½ sec. 15, T4S, R15E, just N of the ghost town of Chilito, on land of mixed status. NOTE: Located near, or possibly identical to, the San Bernardo Junior Mine (stated to lie in sec. 23). Production occurred from 1910 to 1941.
Mineralization is a linear ore body hosted in the Martin formation and the Abrigo formation. Ore control was along quartz latite porphyry dikes and along limestone bedding planes, where the beds are broken by steeply inclined fractures. Alteration included limestone converted to marble through metamorphism. Extensive alteration is present.
Local structures include an E-W trending quartz latite porphyry dikes, and one NE-trending dike. Abrigo and Martin formation beds strike NNE to NE, and dip 9°-15°SE. Complex faulting with the major faults trending N-S, including the O'Carroll fault ¼ mile east, and other N-S and NE-trending faults.
