Name:
Named for its relationship to fluorencite (now fluorencite-(Ce)). The root name fluorencite is in honor of Dr. William Florence (1864-1942), who made a preliminary chemical examination of fluorencite-(Ce). The "-(La)" suffix was added in 1987 (Nickel and Mandarino) in allusion to lanthanum being the dominant REE in the composition.
