Grotta di Faggetto Tondo (Buca di Faggeto Tondo), Monte Cucco, Sigillo, Provincia di Perugia, Umbria, Italia


Located in the SW side of Monte Cucco under a thin low permeable level of nodular limestone, the cave developed parallel to the bedding plane for a total depth of about 300 m and a length of 3 km.

The cave displays cupola forms and solutional pockets, dissolved upward into the ceiling. The galleries, which are situated under a lower permeable sedimentary cover, are especially filled with gypsum and other exotic minerals such as halloysite, gibbsite, rozenite, fluorite, fluorapatite, and hydroxylapatite.
