Largest of three mines in the area that produced copper, lead, silver and minor gold from 1874 to 1915. The deposits are considered volcanogenic massive sulfide in origin and consist of steeply-dipping, tabular, layered bodies emplaced in the Silurian Peelwood shale at its contact with the Kangaloolah Volcanics.
