A former Au-Ag-U occurrence/mine located in the SW¼ sec. 16, T10N, R13W, SBM, along the upper E slope of Middle Butte, about 8 miles SW of Mojave. The property comprises 160 acres. Owned by the Middle Butte Mine, Inc., Santa Ana, California (1949- ). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.

Mineralization is hosted in rhyolite. The ore body strikes N26W and dips 35NE at a thickness of 2.44 meters. The vein is 6 to 8 feet in thickness. The ore shoot is 150 feet long. Gold occurs free and finely disseminated through the brecciated vein. The gangue is quartz. Local rocks include Tertiary intrusive rocks (hypabyssal), unit 7 (Northern Mojave Desert).

Workings include surface and underground openings. The ore shoot was mined from surface to 80 feet on dip, 150 feet in length and 8 feet in thickness. Considerable exploration work below the stope failed to disclose a downward extension of the ore shoot.

Production was said to be in excess of $150,000 (period values). The ore averaged $70 (period values)/ton. No specific production records were found.
