Copper ores and impregnations in sandstones, worked from several adits and open cuts until 1965. Hundreds of shafts are also known.
Located in the 'Blauwald' area near St Barbara, 2.5 km west of Wallerfangen and about 6 km west of Saarlouis.

The mines were worked by the Romans to extract azurite for preparing the blue pigment "Egyptian Blue" (Körlin, 2010). Mining activities took also place later in Medieval times and up to the 18th century.
The whole area was investigated by archaeological excavations.
