Magnesite mine.
Common impurities of the magnesite ore are isolated rhombohedral dolomite crystals, calcite veins, pyrite veins, subvertical fractures filled by a mixture of beige ankerite, calcite and chlorite, coarse radiating or single quartz crystals and coarse pyrite pyritohedrons and octahedrons disseminated within sparry magnesite. Chalcocite, fersmite, phlogopite, talc and coarse, white acicular palygorskite were also observed in the mine. Boulangerite, huntite and brucite were reported from laboratory analysis (Rob Woodside fieldwork, 1990).

Collecting was allowed in earlier times, but is presently prohibited.

Description: The Aragonites I believe have been found twice in separate pockets some 5 years apart. The first pocket/vein was a rich translucent honey colouration and the ones from the pocket whose specimen is pictured here, were mostly clear with some limonite staining and deposition on them. The honey coloured group were in radiating masses, and the most recent ones, which came out about 20 years ago were mostly loose singles, some doubly terminated and small groups of sprays and only a few actually on a dolomite matrix.

Description: The Euclase is about .9 cm long. The Euclases came out of a single dirt filled pocket found by a visiting geologist and numbered about a 140 in total, mostly broken and not terminated. There are specimens in both the National and Royal Ontario Museums, as well as in the possession of Ray Hill, and that of two other dealers.
