A former U-Mo occurrence/mine located in sec. 36, T31N, R9E, G&SRM, 16.7 km (10.4 miles) NNE of Cameron, 1.25 miles E of highway 89.
Mineralization is primary and secondary uranium minerals with gangue species in lenses and pods, hosted in mudstone. The ore fills intraformational channels and scours with the upper 30 feet of the Shinarump and lower 60 feet of the Petrified Forest members of the Triassic Chinle formation. Ore tends to occur in depressions. The ore body is surrounded by light brown to yellowish-brown alteration halos which cut across the normal purple and grey beds of host rock types. Some fracturing of beds. Uraninite and secondary uranium minerals are associated with petrified logs. Some malachite present. Some fracturing of beds.Associated rocks include Pleistocene-Late Triassic volcanic ash and basalt.
Workings include surface and underground openings comprised of mostly of an open pit, with ranges of 10 feet to 125 feet. Stripping done to a maximum depth of 140 feet with very few adits, shafts or underground rooms.
