A copper mine owned by the Hindustan Copper Ltd. An open-pit mine billed as the largest hard rock open pit mine in India at 180 meters deep. Capacity is 2 million tons/year ore producing 23,000 tons Cu/year. 60 million tons of ore reserves (estimated 1984) at 1.24% Cu.

Copper-molybdenum lode in calc-alkali tonalite-granodiorite rocks. In sheeted copper quartz veins and K-altered igneous rocks. 2km long and up to 200m thick.

Alpersite was found as efflorescences along a creek that carry Cu plant effluent. It concentrates some Mn, Zn, and Ni. The mineral precipitates at pH=6.2.
