Alpe Veglia is a plain grassy area, of post-glacial lacustrine and alluvial origin totally surrounded by mountain peaks often exceding 3000 m.
This toponym is to be intended as the baricenter and starting point of a large prospective area extended for almost 20 square kilometers and encompassing almost all the surrounding mountains, especially at elevation above 2000 m a.s.l. The main mountains surrounding Alpe Veglia, looking at them clockwise starting from the south, are: Pizzo Forato (2660 m), Punta Valgrande (2857 m), Pizzo Fne (2887 m), Monte Leone (3553 m), Punta di Terrarossa/Wasenhorn (3246 m), Punta d'Aurona/Furggubäumhorn (2985 m), Punta del Rebbio/Bortelhorn (3194 m), Punta Mottiscia/Hillehorn (3158 m), Cima delle Piodelle (3077 m), Helsenhorn (3272 m), Pizzi di Boccareccio (3027 m), Pizzo Moro (2948 m), Cima di Valtendra (2693 m), Punta Salarioli (2666 m), and Torri di Veglia (2405 m). Passo di Valtendra (2431 m), between Cima di Valtendra and Pizzo Moro, connects Alpe Veglia to Valle Bondolero (Devero Valley) to the east; Ritter Pass/Passo di Boccareccio (2764 m), between Punta Mottiscia/Hillehorn and Cima delle Piodelle, connects Alpe Veglia to Chummibort (Binn Valley, Valais, Switzerland) to the north.

In particular the typical Alpine fissures are found especially all along the NW sector, bordering with Switzerland.
Lago Bianco and Ritter Pass are just the two sublocalities more mentioned in the few mineralogical bibliography available.
