Before 1 January 2020 the Agder county was divided in two counties, Vest-Agder and Aust-Agder.

Vest-Agder and Aust-Agder counties ceased to exist as an official, autonomous entity.

From 01.01.2020 the Vest- and Aust-Agder counties were joined together as one large Agder county.

Colour: Brownish black, metamict with thin brownish alteration
Description: Brøgger (1879) gave a crystallographic description of a black mineral from Urstad without chemical analysis. He thought it to be identical with aeschynite (From Miask, which later was named aeschynite-(Ce)). In Brøgger (1906) the mineral were described in detail, and gave it the name Blomstrandine. He states on p. 104 the that aeschynite from Miask is a Cerium-Aeschynit and that the blomstrandine from Hitterö was a "Yttrium-Aeschynit". A part of a crystal weighing 3kg and chunks up to 20 kg has been noted.

Description: Garnet porphyroblasts are common at the locality, forming porphyroblasts up to (and perhaps exceeding) 5 cm. Crude crystals up to about 2-2.5cm could also be found associated with quartz. The garnet is inferred as a almandine-pyrope series based on the geological environment ( upper amphibolite to granulite facies meta-sediments), color ( rose-pink) and specific gravity (~3.9).

Habit: Dark crystals with high lustre. Size up to minimum 4 cm. The garnets are found in feldspar, smokey quartz and inbetween biotite sheets. The latter ones are normally flattened.
Description: Garnets from the nearby Frøyså 3 quarry has been analyzed and found to be a spessartine with a significant almandine content(Larsen 1980). No analysis has been done on garnets from Frøyså 1

Description: First described as "Britholite-(Y)" by Griffin et al. The analysis published in their paper however showed that the sample studied had a high content of F (1.18 wt%), thus > 50 apfu and should be a fluorbritholite according to the revision of the nomenclature of the apatite supergroup (Ferraris et al 2010). Britholite-(Y) may occur at the locality but further studies are necessary.

Hydrohalite, will thus (theoretically) occure naturallly in the upper parts of the granite during cold winter months.

Description: Pyrite occurs predominantly as cubes in the Landsverk 1 quarry. Considerable amounts have been found in a chloritized zone not far into the quarry in the north wall. However, nowadays it is getting increasingly harder to get out good crystals, if at all. It might very well be the case that this zone is depleted. Elsewhere in the quarry, pyrite is rare. An attractive rarity are pyrite crystals perched on crusts of tiny microcline crystals, sometimes forming a geode.

The combination with stilpnomelane seems to be rare worldwide as judging from Mindat, and the quality from Landsverk 1 is superior as compared with that of other localities.

Description: Found at the locality in a small body of strong hydrothermal alteration as a thin green crust around altered corundum crystals. Nilssen & Raade (1973) found 1.5% Cr2O3 in this clay mineral, and identified it as volkonskoite based on the powder x-ray diffraction pattern. This is obviously too little Cr to qualify as volkonskoite, which requires Cr as a site dominant ion. See Foord et al. (1987) for discussion.
