About Pleonaste
Formula:
(Mg,Fe)Al2O4
Name:
From the greek for 'abundant' for its many crystal forms.
A variety of Spinel
An Fe2+-bearing (ferroan) variety of spinel, often exhibiting crystal forms more complex than the basic octahedron with crystallography exhibiting combinations of the octahedron with either the dodecahedron d{011} or more rarely the cube a{001} forms.
