About Feldspar GroupHide

As a Commodity:
A group of silicate minerals. May contain (very minor amount of) OH groups, considered as defects (e.g., Yang et al., 2015).

In petrology the group is split into two major groups:

Alkali feldspar - feldspar minerals rich in sodium or potassium.
Plagioclase - the albite to anorthite series.

Varieties of Feldspar GroupHide

AntiperthiteAn intergrowth of orthoclase (often as lamellae) enclosed in a plagioclase host. Result of an exsolution process (cf. also perthite).
CryptoperthiteA variety of perthite with lamella of submicroscopic thickness.
MesoperthiteA perthite with approximately equal amounts of alkali feldspar and plagioclase.
PerthiteAn intergrowth of albite or oligoclase with a microcline host, occasionally also with a orthoclase host. The intergrowths or exsolution lamellae of the albite are visible as white lines coursing through the K feldspar groundmass.
