About TetraferriphlogopiteHide

Formula:
KMg3(Fe3+Si3O10)(OH,F)2
Crystal System:
Monoclinic
Name:
Named for its composition and crystal structure, containing iron 3+ cations (FERRIc, from Latin ferrum = 'iron') in TETRAhedrally coordinated sites, and its chemical relationship to phlogopite. During the IMA mica nomenclature review of 1998, the assigned name was tetra-ferriphlogopite, with a hyphen. The hyphen was removed by the IMA in 2008.
Mica Group.

The hydroxyl analogue of fluorotetraferriphlogopite and the magnesium analogue of tetraferriannite.
