This mining complex comprises about 40 mines.
The Trepca Belt of Pb-Zn-Ag mineralization is located in the NNW-SSE trending Vardar zone and extends for over 80 km. It supports five mines during the period 1930-2010 and contains several other Pb-Zn occurrences. The replacement and vein type mineralisation is hosted primarily by Mesozoic carbonates, but also occasionally by amphibolites. It displays a clear structural control. Mineralisation is spatially and genetically related to Neogene andesite-dacite extrusive and subvolcanic intrusive.
The mines are categorized according to their geographic location:
- Northern Chain: Belo Brdo, Crnac, and Zuta Prlina;
- Middle Chain: Stari Trg/Stantrg;
- Southern Chain: Ajvalija/Hajvali, Novo Brdo/Novobrde, and Kisnica.
