105 km stretch of the upper stream region of the river in a region characterised by well-developed stable sand bars. The sampling sites were: sample M1 – a point bar deposit at Chandpur Sadar; M2 Haimchar, Chandpur; M3 Mehendiganj, Barishal; M4 Goshair Hat, Shariatpur; M5 Hizla, Barishal; M6 a mouth bar deposit at Monpura, Bhola).
