Cerro Pichao, part of the crystalline environment of the Sierra of Quilmes, i.e. are metamorphic rocks, phyllite injected carriers of small pegmatitic bodies linked to partly visible granitic intrusions. These pegmatites are at various levels of the slopes of the Pichao Hill. The bodies have some tens of meters and are rare. They are complex and outside of the granitic intrusion pegmatites, they are consistent with the injected schists porce. The mica deposits are found in pegmatites located 8.5 km approximately to the West of the town of Colalao del Valle, in the Tafí del Valle Department, in the environment belonging to the Sierras of Quilmes.
With regard to the disposal of mica or Scrap of the deposits in the Sierra de Quilmes, there is a story that it was used in drilling for oil and paint and non-stick paint by the company DARMEX S.A.C.I.F.I., province of San Luis, which acquired 27,000 and 20,000 kg, during the year 2001.
