Name:
Named for Professor Marco Pasero (b. 1958) in honour of his contributions to mineralogy and crystallography in general, and especially in recognition of his contributions to Italian mineralogy. Professor Pasero is a co-author of the recent book Italian Type Minerals (Ciriotti et al., 2009) and has described 12 new minerals from Italy, including 2 new members of the crichtonite group, dessauite-(Y) and gramaccioliite-(Y). He has also acted as the member for Italy on the IMA Commission on New Minerals, Nomenclature and Classification (CNMNC) and is currently the Vice-Chairman.
