For Lev Davidovich Landau (born January 22, 1908 – died April 1, 1968) was a prominent Soviet physicist who made fundamental contributions to many areas of theoretical physics. He won the 1962 Nobel Prize in physics. There are many things named in his honor including physical effects, equations, a minor planet, and a lunar crater.
