Name:
The name is in honor of Danian Ye (b. 1939), a mineralogist at the Institute of Geology and Geophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, for his many contributions to mineralogy and crystal chemistry.
Chemically similar to zhiqinite.

Yeite is natural TiSi with the Pnma FeB-type structure. Synthetic TiSi with the Pnma FeB-type structure is well known.
