Named in honor of Ibragim Khamrabaevich Khamrabaeva (Ибраги́м Хамраба́евич Хамра́баев) (5 May 1920, Uzgen, Kyrgyzstan - 29 June 2002, Tashkent, Uzbekistan), Director, Institute of Geology and Geophysics, Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
Possibly the V analogue of 'UM1989-04-C:TiV'.

Synthetic titanium carbide is a very important high-performance ceramic.
