The massif is constrained to a contact between of Tunguska-Group and Devonian rocks and extends across the strike of the host rocks. It is traced for 5 km at an average width of 0.6–1.5 km and an average thickness of 170–180 m (the maximum thickness is 370 m). In cross-section, the intrusion is a flattened
chimney-shaped body. The western part of the massif is overlain by Quaternary rocks, and its eastern part crops out at the surface. Earlier exploration operations have found a graben 500 m thick in the western part.
The graben in referred to as Chernogorsky, and its rocks are lowered for 180–200 m. The bottom part of the Chernogorsky massif hosts disseminated and stringer–disseminated (in underlying rocks) ores. The average thickness of the orebody is 10–15 m. The mineralogy of the ores and their structures and textures resemble those of ores at the Norilsk 2 deposit, although the former are of much lower grade.
