The gabbroic sequence in the area of Punta Rascià exhibits a variety of rock types. The main part is made up of clinopyroxene gabbros, locally flaserized and amphibolitized. Troctolites and dolerite dykes in gabbro are also observed.
Veinlets of epidote and zoisite are frequently found in gabbro in the Puntà Rascià area.
A 800-m-long plagioclasite dyke, whose thickness varies from 2-3 to 10 m, crops out at 2200 m a.s.l., on the southeast slope of Punta Rascià, at the contact with gabbro (Galli, 1959). According to Martin (1984), due to the close association with gabbro and peridotite, Galli interpreted this feldspathic rock as anorthosite. However, the data reported by Martin indicate that the rock is more felsic than anorthosite.
