A Au occurrence area located about 15 miles N to NE of Phoenix.
Hills formed from Precambrian schist and granite, overlain partly by Quaternary basalt. Ore occurs as free milling gold in quartz, veins (gold quartz ledges) in granite and schist.
A 5-stamp mill had been installed in the district (1881).
