A former Cu-Au-Ag mine located in secs. 11, in the SW¼NW¼ sec. 14 & in the SE¼NE¼ sec. 15, T25N, R11E, MDM, 3.1 km (1.9 miles) ESE of Genesee, along Ward Creek, on National Forest land. MRDS database accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in slate and schist. The ore body strikes N10W and dips 65W at a length of 396.24 meters. Ore control was shear zones. The footwall is latered schist and, in some places, slate. The hanging wall is black slate, altered and iron-stained near the vein. Local rocks include Mesozoic volcanic rocks, unit 5 (Northern Sierra Nevada and Eastern Klamath Mountains).
Workings include underground opening(s). The underground workings total 288.04 meters in lwength and an overall depth od 121.92 meters. They include a 400 foot deep vertical shaft with 3 levels at 70, 200 and 400 feet. The 200 foot level has been driven N 275 feet and S 175 feet. The 400 foot level of the shaft runs N for 245 feet and S for 250 feet.
Production data are found in: Eric, J.H. (1948): 287. This mine produced Cu in its early days and then Au during the 1890's. Production was $460,000 in 1918, mostly in Au (period values).
