A former W occurrence/mine located in the E½SE¼ sec. 7, T7N, R2E, SBM, about 4.4 km N of Ord Mountain (coordinates of record)(11 air miles southward from Daggett), on private land. Discovered in 1951. First production was 1952. MRDS database accuracy for this location is not stated. Tucker (1943) erroneously listed the location of this mine in T7N, R3E. It is correctly identified in the other references as T7N, R2E. This operation mined scheelite during a brief period in the 1950's.
Mineralization is hosted in hornfels and metavolcanics. The ore body is irregular in form, strikes N10-20W and dips 68SW at a width of 2.44 meters. Controls for ore emplacement included a shear zone. There are some E-trending rhyolite dikes. 2 lime-magnesium silicate dikes about 180 feet apart traverse the country N20W. Associated rocks include diorite. Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges).
Workings include underground openings comprised of 500 feet of workings explored by open cuts and a shallow shaft inclined 50 degrees SW. 200 feet W of the shaft is an open cut ending in a vertical underhand stope that is 6 feet wide, 20 feet long and 30 feet deep.
A few hundred tons of ore were mined. Some ore was reported to have assayed 1.4% WO3, with an average grade of less than 1% WO3. No production figures are available.
