Cu-W anomaly. (Plenty River Mining Co. NL) maps provide little detail over the location of the deposit, but accepting the existing Mindat location, based on information at Northern Territory Govenment STRIKE database(Spatial Territory Resource Information Kit for Exploration), places the deposit about 3 kilometres south of the Bellbird Mine, and main J structured syncline, that most of the deposits in this area are situated in. A line of east-west outcropping on flat plains can be seen near the Mindat map location, matching the description. This source indicates the Wards Prospect listed separately is part of the same lode horizon.
The prospect is marked by a series of banded iron formation outcrops, along a 4500 metre length. Banded iron formation is not characteristic of the lodes in the main J structure deposits. The banded iron formation at Holmes is not associated with the Cu-W mineralisation formation.
The lode horizon contains magnetite-chlorite-quartz, banded iron formation, and malachite staining of surface outcrops, enclosed by quartz-sericite and knotted schist, impure marble, epidote-quartzite beds, amphibolite and quartz-tourmaline rock.
Scheelite is noted along a length of 96 metres, up to 0.6 metres wide, and as discontinuous mineralisation for a total of 600 metres. Surface malachite is the only copper noted, however other species may exist at depth but remains un-explored.
