Trial driven in about 1890 by the London Lead Co. because a lump of float galena with exceptionally high silver content had been found in the headwaters of Harwood Beck. No mineralised ground appears to have been found, but the level passed through the Teesdale Fault into the Whin Sill dolerite. The minerals listed come from altered limestone present on the dumps.
