Low sulfidation epithermal
There are early Spanish or pre-Columbian open-cut workings. The Panama Corporation explored it in 1927-1932 with adits and trenches, and an attempt was made to mine it in 1938. Freeport explored in 1985-1989 and drilled 5 holes in 1988 at Las Minitas to test a series of NNE-trending veins in propylitically altered andesite, and at Cerro Cristal.
