Tonopah Treasury; NBMG Sample Site 1385
Structure: Thrust Fault
Alteration: Silicification
Deposit: Quartz vein with pits and trenches dug on it. Adit in mule springs limestone; disseminated galena and sphalerite present in marble. Garnet-pyroxeive tactite present in the same horizon further west. Very large zoned garnet, some copper oxide in tactite. Some workings appear to be along a n-trending thrust fault which juxtaposes cambrian campito formation over cambrian mule springs limestone. Mineralization occurs As sulfides disseminated throughout quartzite/mudstone and in breccia. Rocks are heavily Fe-stained. Ore is locally silicifield. Crystalline aplitic dikes cut host rocks, which also carry fresh pyrite and chalcopyrite. Quartz vein material with calcite observed.
Deposit type: Polymetallic replacement
Development: Assessment work done by swansons since 1968 and is current.
Geology: Lamprophyre sill occurs on ridgecrest, but has no obvious association with the mineralization.
Rock formation(s): Mule Springs Limestone;Campito
Ore(s): Thrust Fault
