A former small underground Cu-Ag-Au-W mine located in the SW ¼ sec. 16 & the SE ¼ sec. 17, T. 11 S., R.16E. First produced 1916; subsequently 1939-1940 and until 1968. May include all or part of the Gesman claims. Owned at times, or in part, by the Arizona Copper Co.; Daily Mines Co.; Catalina Consolidated Copper Co.; Control Mines, Inc.; Control Mines Co.; the Arizona Copper Mines, Inc.; and Continental Materials, Inc.
Mineralization is sulfides and minor, disseminated scheelite associated with irregular skarn zones of pyrometamorphic replacements in structurally deformed and marblelized Paleozoic limestone along the contact with intrusive Laramide quartz diorite. Cross-cutting lamprophyre, alaskite, and quartz dikes. Host rock units are the Abrigo Formation, the Martin Formation, and the Escabrosa Limestone. Ore control was the crests and flanks of 3 small, gently plunging ridges.
Workings include adit and inclined shaft operations. Some 25,000 tons of ore averaging about 3% Cu, 0.8 oz. Ag/T, and minor Au were mined, mainly from 1937-1947.
