Locality type:
The Mount Marshall Shire is about 300 kilometres north-east of Perth, covering 10 190 square kilometres, with a population of 471 (est. 2013), mainly in its only major town of Bencubbin.
The economy is based on cereal growing/sheep, and consequently flat to rolling wheatfields, and some salt-pans. Remanent scrub surrounds granite monoliths, best seen in spring. The shire also contains the historic Pergande sheep yards, constructed of granite slabs.
