Locality type:
Köppen climate type:
GML 2063. Located 3 kilometres north-west of the Marda Dam, and 1.5 kilometres east south-east of Allen's Find. Its exact location in the present landscape is uncertain. It consists of only two shafts.
The No. 2 shaft is mentioned in the source in 1911, down to 98 feet with levels at 57, 81 and 141 feet. It had been driven for 225 feet at the 57 foot level, and 170 feet at the 141 foot level. The country rock the source states is totally different to Allen's Find, though the same series. It is carbonated ultra basic igneous rock, possibly peridotite. The ore body is a quartz reef in a chloritic shear zone, averaging 4 feet wide, and dipping vertically.
The shoots are 6 inches to 3 feet wide, but average 18 inches, and follow an irregular course in the shear zone. Within the country rock is a band of quartzite, striking east-west. This intrudes the ore channel, causing the reef to expand and envelope the quartzite breccia, reforming as a reef on the other side, still in the shear zone. The breccia forms a vertical pipe, with gold enrichment in the quartz reef near it. The ore shoots are vertical and parallel to the breccia body. There are 3 ore shoots, either side of the breccia, and one to the east. Coarse gold in the shoots is common.
