The Bernstein is a small worked copper prospect in East Broughton QC off of 6e rang N in Broughton, Qc. The exploration pit locates the deposit in about 3 km NNW of East-Broughton and 1.2 km to the west of the river Cinque. Following was translated from French from "Système d'information géominière du Québec" :http://sigeom.mrn.gouv.qc.ca

This deposit was delineated on 7.6 m long, 4.6 m wide and up to 6.1 m deep. The veins are mainly oriented at N225 (or NE-SW).
Comment - lithology: In dumps and outcrops, we note the following lithologies: 1) and sericite schists ottrelite containing some chlorite; 2) gray slate; 3) orthoquartzite. They are crosscut quartz veins with different thickness s and various directions. The veins mineralized quartz-calcite are found in the shales belonging to schistes Bennett.
- mineralization: quartz-calcite veins are mineralized with chalcocite, malachite and bornite disseminated and / or irregular masses. The mineralization represents 3% of the veins. Sericite schist and ottrélite contains chalcocite and bornite disséminated in the S2 cleavage planes near these veins.
- typology: Type: Mineralization is associated with hydrothermal vein and the development of quartz-carbonate veins. Genesis: We can issue two hypotheses on the origin of this deposit: 1) Mineralization is after the deposition of sedimentary rocks and is connected to flaws that affected the rocks of this sector. These faults could be contemporary with the placing of the ultramafic rocks slices of the Pennington sheet and the second phase of folding. 2) Mineralization is contemporaneous with the establishment and sediment was re-mobilized in quartz veins and carbonates during subsequent deformation.
Type: Veins copper
Minerals:
Bornite, Malachite, Chalcocite, Quartz, Calcite, Séricite, Chlorite, Ottrelite (Chlorortoid)
