Carbonaceous Chondrite (CV3; S1; W1)
2003 Find, 780 g

Northwest Africa 2086 (or, NWA 2086), like other Vigarano-like Carbonaceous Chondrites, is characterized by large chondrules, refractory inclusions and abundant matrix. NWA 2086 has several types of chondrules — plagioclase-rich chondrules (PRC) are apparently abundant, but the more-or-less expected Porphyritic Olivine (PO), Porphyritic Olivine Pyroxene (POP) , and Barred Olivine (BO) chondrules are present as well. Calcium, Aluminum-rich inclusions (CAIs) include varieties which are spinel-rich, clinopyroxene-rich and gehlenite-rich. Within the chondrules, the mesostasis includes glass and small amounts of carbonates and Fe-Ni rich nodules of uncertain mineralogical character. One compact CAI of apparent hydrothermal origin contains phyllosilicates, feldspathoids, rare andreyivanovite and even rarer dmisteinbergite. Naturally enough this unusual inclusion has attracted some special attention (Fintor et al., 2014). The mineralogical diversity of such a small stone is a reflection of the rather diverse origins of NWA 2086's components — somewhat unusual even for a Carbonaceous Chondrite.

As is true of many Northwest Africa meteorites, the actual location of the NWA 2086 fall is unknown.
