The Nová shaft was sunk nearby the old collapsed Gabor shaft in the saddle between Glanzenberg hill and Sobov hill, over Banska Stiavnica mining town in early sixties of 20th century. After closing of the Franz Shaft in the 1975s this was the main shaft of mining in Banska Stiavnica.
Depth of shaft is more than 850 metres, main levels was 3rd, 5th, 12th, 1st deep level and 2nd deep Level. Mining plant was closed in the end of 1990s because of loss of benefit. Underground excavation was done on Terézia vein, Špitaler vein, Bieber vein, Alžbeta metasomatic orebody and other. During this shaft operation were collected thousand of mineral specimens covering practically whole the mineral list published for Banská Štiavnica. Rare are the silver and gold ores from this mine plant, fluorite, tetrahedrite, celestine and some other species. From this mine are known beautiful samples of quartz, calcite, dolomite, galena, sphalerite, gypsum, rhodochrosite, pyrite, chalcopyrite and many other. Now is standing only the hoisting tower of the shaft and the office building. Dumps are full recultivated.
