A nickel mine located a few km NNE of Kambalda. Discovered 1965-1966. Otter shoot is southwest of the Juan complex shoots which include Juan West(A,B), Durkin Deeps, Juan Banana, B, Main, Top Roll, Juan Horst, Juan West, possibly others since the source was written.
Ore is obtained from the Juan decline, and Juan shaft. It is noted in the mid 1980's, as containing one-quarter of the nickel ore in the Kambalda area, and one-third volume of ore production.
Meta olivine peridotite 50-150 metre thick basal flow. Upper areas however appear somewhat chaotic according to the source. Mineralised areas contain meta olivine, peridotite, granular textured talc-magnesite, chlorite, dolomite. There are prominent carbonate porphyroblasts in the lowest 5 metres, and disseminated ore. Footwall is fine grained dark grey-green metabasalt, traversed by quartz veinlets.
There are metasomatic reaction zones containing abundant chlorite, biotite, phlogopite, and tremolite, between the metabasalt and felsic porphyry intrusions.
The Juan Fault separates the ore into a north deposit, dipping east, and west deposit, dipping west. It is further broken by folding reverse high angle faulting, and strike to oblique slip movement. West of the Juan fault, the sub-shoots are bounded by north trending reverse faults, and north-west flexural folding. To the east is a complex north north-west plunging structure.
