A Cordierite-crystal mounted for demonstration the dichroism. The crystal is rotating mounted in the middle of this plate (3.5 x 3.5 cm); between the two photos the rotation-angle was 90°. Produced by "Optisches Institut von Dr. Steeg & Reuter in Bad Homburg v.d.H.", spezialized in polarization optics. Founded 1855 in Bad Homburg near Frankfurt/Main, since 1877 under the name Dr. Steeg & Reuter.
