The Bulchina Gold Mine is an abandoned open pit, 20 kilometres south-west of Sandstone, and just west of the Sandstone-Paynes Find Road.
Troy Resources acquired the area in 1999, and production commenced in 2002, and ended in 2004. The mill continued to process low grade ore until early 2005. The project was sold to Black Oak Minerals in August 2012. The mine had produced 223 000 ounces of gold.
Most reefs in the Sandstone district have a flat dip, except Havilah, and the West Lode at Bulchina. The gold is hosted in sheeted vein arrays located between felsic intrusions. The wall rock alteration is sericite-fuchsite-carbonate-pyrite-arsenopyrite.
