Abandoned(?) copper mine/deposit.
Located 43 km northwest of Jendouba (formerly Souk-el-Arba).
The ore deposit is hosted in Upper Cretaceous-Paleogene sedimentary sequences in a regional transcurrent shear zone. The deposit occupies an area of about 2000 m2, where underground mining from 1950 to 1953 produced some 2000 tons of metallic copper and a few thousand ounces Ag, from selectively extracted tennantite-tetrahedrite veins.
A smelter was operated from 1904 to 1909.
