A former lode Au-Pb-Cu-As mine located in sec. 17, T31N, R11W, MDM, 4.7 km (2.9 miles) ESE of Hayfork, on the divide between Morgan Gulch and Coonrod Gulch (1.5 miles SE of the Hayfork landing field), on National Forest land. Diascovered in 1932. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.

Mineralization is a Au-base metals deposit hosted in plutonic rocks. The ore body is 2.13 meters thick. Dike rock is described as very fine-grained, light gray to dark gray in color, and without visible, original quartz. The dike dips steeply and is roughly 20 feet thick. It intrudes a series of cherts and slates of nearly vertical dip. Gold occured in free state. Local rocks include Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 9 (Western Klamath Mountains).

Workings included underground openings. The main adit level follows the dike for 600 feet with a raise driven to the level above. 30 feet of drift on rich, ore-bearing vein at an altitude of 30 feet above the main level. A second level, 80 feet higher. has a drift on the dike for 185 feet in a southerly direction and includes a 60 foot deep winze driven 20 degrees down. There is also a 60 foot raise to surface with stoping.

Production data are found in: Averill (1941).

The owner extracted 11 tons of ore from the 30 foot drift in 1939, which yielded a chunk of retorted amalgam weighing 130 ounces. Sampling was planned to determine whether the dike would yield a commercial grade of ore. No specific production record was found.

Analytical data results: Some of the ore was stated to contain $1000/ton in gold (period values). Concentrate assayed $600-$800/ton (period values). Ther final tailings assayed $32-$40/ton (period values) and was being saved for further treatment.
