A Cu-Au-Zn occurrence/mine located in the SW¼SW¼ sec. 24 & in the NW¼NW¼ sec. 25, T1N, R11E, MDM, 2.5 km (1.6 miles) SSE of Telegraph City, on the lower SE slope of Hog Hill and S of Quail Hill (6½ miles SW of Copperopolis; 1 mile S of the Napolean Mine). Operated in 1914 and in the 1920's. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.
Mineralization is hosted in greenstone and porphyry. The ore body strikes N30W and dips 75E at a thickness of 15.24 meters and a length of 106.68 meters. Controls for ore emplacement included a shear-brecciated zone in porphyry. The deposit consists of a zone of pyritization, kaolinization and silicification capped by gossan. Another zone is 200 feet E. The workings are in quartz and feldspar porphyry within a few hundred feet of a contact with greenstone. Local alteration includes the alteration products mentioned above. Local rocks include Mesozoic volcanic rocks, unit 2 (Western Sierra Foothills and Western Klamath Mountains).
Workings include underground openings comprised of an old, caved 100 foot shaft, and a newer open shaft. Two open, west-extending crosscut adits to the S plus open cuts.
