A former lode Au-Ag-Pb-Cu mine located in the NE¼SW¼ sec. 23, T3N, R10E, MDM, 2.2 km (1.3 miles) E of Jenny Lind on the divide between Rich Gulch and North Gulch (on the ridge SE of the Calaveras River). Operated intermittently during the period 1888 to 1917 and during 1933. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in greenstone. The ore body strikes NW and dips SW. The mineralized zone is in altered greenstone. Altered diabase is cut by quartz veinlets and mineralized with auriferous sulfides, pyrite, chalcopyrite, galena and sphalerite. Local rocks include Mesozoic volcanic rocks, unit 2 (Western Sierra Foothills and Western Klamath Mountains).
Workings include underground openings comprised of a 362 foot drift adit, and a 135 foot inclined shaft. A mill on the property treated the ore in a ten-stamp mill.
Production data are found in: Clark, Wm. B. & P.A. Lydon (1962).
Intermittent production during the period 1890 and 1933. Shipments made in 1917 and in 1933 contained about 1½% combined Pb & Cu.
