A former underground Cu-Ag mine located near the western boundary of the Green Monster property and north of the Copper Chief Mine. Work ceased in 1919.
Mineralization is a small zone of mineralized quartz porphyry at the southern contact with the Shea basalt. The host rock is the Deception Rhyolite (Prot. U/Pb zircon greater than 1820 million years). Ore control was stratigraphy and igneous activity. Ore concentration was oxidation at near surface. Alteration included chloritization and sericitization.
The copper minerals appear to be controlled by an eastward-trending shear zone, dipping 70ºN. and from 6 to 8 feet wide. The quartz porphyry locally contains appreciable chlorite in streaks parallel to the shear zone. Copper carbonate is common at the surface and coarse pyrite and some chalcopyrite occurred.
Area structures include massive sulphide lenses elongate parallel to bedding in metavolcanic rocks. Foliation in metavolcanic rocks trends N10W to N40W.
Workings include 2 extensive adit levels. The lower had 1,400 feet of workings, whereas the upper had about 800 feet. Additionally, 2 short adits, each 90 feet long, cut the upper eastern part of the mineralized zone, and a short shaft connects to one of these adits.
