The chromitite occurrences in the Pindos ophiolite complex are small (a few tens of meters × a few tens of centimeters) and are of all textural types (massive, schlieren, banded, disseminated, and nodular). They are high in Cr and high in Al, often in a spatial association, hosted within completely serpentinized, weathered, and intensively deformed dunite–harzburgite blocks, due to a strong plastic and brittle deformation, which had an important influence on their present form and distribution.
